To Church or Not To Church?

What if the church were a family? What if everyone knew your name? What if you committed to the church the way you commit to your friends and family? What if in the face of major issues within the church you stuck it out and told the church you were not going to give up on it? What if you took responsibility for the church and made a difference? What if you treated your church like it was the only church in the country and you had no choice but to work it out?

There are no easy answers to these questions and I believe I exist right now somewhere in between wanting to give up on the church and wanting to fight for it. It is both a blessing and a curse to have so many churches in our area. Think about it if you move from Mesquite to Denton it might not make sense for you to travel 30+ minutes across town to your former church when there is one across the street. But, what if the church across the street is not as friendly as you would like? Does it also make sense to move to the church two blocks down in hopes of finding a friendlier church, or should you try to stick it out and become the friendliness that this church needs? hmm…
